Presenter
Prof. Dr. Philipp Reiss
Come to the lecture in Garching and learn from Prof. Dr. Philipp Reiss, Professor of Lunar and Planetary Exploration, all about the mineral resources of the moon and how they are found:
What treasures are there on the moon?
Clean water and air to breathe are vital, even on any space mission. But where will these come from when one day we want to fly to Mars, or live and work on the moon? Any rocket transportation from Earth is expensive and time-consuming. The solution: these precious substances can even be found on the moon, trapped in the loose rock on its surface. Metals and minerals that are needed for construction, as fuel and to sustain life are also hidden there. Professor Philipp Reiss shows how these treasures can be found and recovered, and which lunar missions will be launched in the coming years. Entry is free.
What is the KinderUni?
The Munich KinderUni offers exciting lectures and events for children between the ages of 7 and 12 at a different Munich university every semester. There, professors talk about what they are researching and what they know particularly well. In winter semester 24/25, the KinderUni will once again be a guest at TUM.
The events usually last about an hour. Please be there about 15 minutes before the start of the event. Then you can secure an entry in your student handbook before the start of the lecture.
