TUMChor: The Choir of Our University

We are the choir of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) – students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of TUM. Every year we perform in the Munich Philharmonie at the university’s Advent concerts – and at many other festive occasions. Sing along!

Sing along!

We are always happy to welcome new singers interested in performing with the Symphonisches Ensemble München (Symphonic Ensemble of Munich). Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the Technical University of Munich are welcome to join us!

  • Do you already have experience singing in a choir?
  • Are you willing to independently prepare pieces?
  • Do you have time to attend all (if at all possible) rehearsals?

As a project choir we practice specifically in preparation for upcoming concerts – it is therefore necessary to register seperately for each new project. This allows us to organize the various choir projects with maximum flexibility, be it in the "big choir" for the traditional TUM Advent matinee and VivaTUM (1st Advent), in the TUM Chamber Choir or sometimes in a very modern way in the TUM Pop-Up Choir.

The following projects are scheduled for 2025:

  • 17 - 19 January and 6/7 February 2025: The Sound of Hans Zimmer and John Williams with the Munich Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ben Palmer; rehearsed by Prof. Felix Mayer
  • 4 April 2025: The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers in Concert: Live music for the film (original English version) in the Munich Olympic Hall with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the TUM Choir & Wolfratshauser Children's Choir; conductor: Ludwig Wicki; rehearsal: Prof. Felix Mayer
  • 1 December 2025 TUM Advent Matinee and VivaTUM with the Munich Symphonic Ensemble; conductor: Prof. Felix Mayer

Details and dates for all projects as well as the registration for interested people who like to sing can be found on the wiki page (German).

With an old Scottish folk song in an arrangement by Ludwig van Beethoven, we are sending out a signal of solidarity in a time when when we all are alone together. Making music together as a sign of solidarity (News article, 14 April 2020)
