Our goal is to use AI and Machine Learning to expand the boundaries of what is possible today. To this end we support outstanding and creative pioneers in these fields.
Our researchers develop new methods, theoretical principles and applications of Artificial Intelligence, for example autonomous vehicles, robots and medical technologies – on an interdisciplinary basis and across all School boundaries. We also investigate the associated societal impacts and contribute to the establishment of basic ethical prerequisites. This includes dialog with policy makers and the public, whom we integrate and provide with transparent information. We pursue international exchange in collaboration with institutions and universities around the world in joint research projects and programs supporting talented young researchers.

Our facilities focusing on AI
AI and Machine Learning (ML) are anchored at a large number of TUM research institutes and alliances: The broad research spectrum includes such diverse fields as medicine, construction and robotics, and is supported by a modern and constantly growing infrastructure. We have also established facilities in instruction and curriculum which promote the progress of new digital teaching and learning formats and the use of AI.
In addition we specifically support an entrepreneurial mindset and spin-offs in the fields ML, AI and Data Sciences. Our wide range of entrepreneurship services accompanies both employees and students in their entrepreneurial projects. They benefit in particular from an international network of highly-qualified experts, consultants and alumni.
