On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the Kunsthalle München is dedicating the exhibition “Civilization” to the question of how we live today and illustrates the diversity and contradictions of our civilization. In collaboration with the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, a series of lectures will be held at TUM.
The third guest lecture “Tree time. The history and future of plant-friendly cities” (in German) will be held by Prof. Dr. Sonja Dümpelmann, Co-Director of the Rachel Carson Center: The principle of sustainability originates from the silviculture of past centuries. Paradoxically, its application has often led to forest monocultures that are considered unsustainable both ecologically and socially. However, forward-looking planning and future thinking can also open up opportunities for a socially just and ecologically, culturally and economically sustainable environment. What can we learn from the past for the future treatment of trees and urban nature?
Admission is free of charge. Please register for the event.
Please note:
- The talk is in German
- The lecture series takes place at TUM (Friedrich von Thiersch Lecture Hall)
