Target Audience

The TUM Digital Transformation Manager program is aimed at individuals who are passionate about optimizing and digitizing work processes. Whether you work in science management, as a PostDoc or in another academic role at TUM, this program offers you the opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge in a forward-looking field. A formal background in IT is not required.

Like all CareerDesign@TUM programs, the TUM Digital Transformation Manager is aimed at mid-level academic staff in the broadest sense (employment in pay group E/A13 or higher, usually with a doctorate). There is no age limit for application.

In addition to the kick-off and closing events, the TUM Digital Transformation Manager includes a formal course program and accompanying qualification elements. Three multi-day "Shared Learning Spaces" and one transfer day each cover the focus areas of processes, digital and people. Smaller exchange formats and site visits complement the program. Application

Please note: If your current position at TUM is financed in whole or in part by third-party funds, we ask you to clarify directly with the funding body whether participation is possible for you. For some third-party funding providers, continuing education to this extent may not be compatible with the purpose of the funding commitment. If you are unable to clarify this yourself, please contact us again.

Selection Process

The selection process is designed to ensure that this qualification program is right for you. The first step is to check that your documents are complete. This is followed by an assessment and evaluation of your application documents by the CareerDesign@TUM team. If you receive the required vote in this step, we look forward to a personal interview with you in which we would like to talk about your motivation for participating, your previous professional experience and your professional goals. The interview will include a case study from the work context, which we will discuss together. We will also be happy to discuss mutual expectations regarding participation in this interview.

Based on the assessment process, we recommend participation (or rejection) to the CareerDesign@TUM Board. The board then decides on admission or rejection to the program. You are expected to receive the results of the admission procedure in mid-April 2025. Upon request, we will of course be happy to take the time to explain the reasons for rejection and suggest alternatives to participation in the TUM Digital Transformation Manager qualification program.
