Semester fees payment at Munich, Garching, Freising

Whether you are commencing or continuing your studies at the TUM Campuses Munich, Garching, or Weihenstephan (Freising), you must pay your semester fees within the designated period before the start of each semester.

Basic Student Union Fee

The basic fees must be paid every semester before students are permitted to enroll or re-enroll. Fees are also due for students taking leaves-of-absence from their studies. An exemption from these fees is not possible. 

Currently, the basic contribution for the student union amounts to € 85.

Important information

  • Please note that the information only concerns students at the Campus Munich, Garching and Weihenstephan. Here you can find further information for students at Campus Heilbronn, Campus Straubing or about  Parallel Studies.

  • Students of TUM Asia only have to pay the Basic Student Union Fees of the Student Union Munich.
    The Basic Student Union Fee will be transferred directly from TUM Singapore. Students don´t have to transfer the fee.

  • Please note that the date of the receipt of payment is decisive for the deadline of the first-time enrollment and re-enrollment, and not the date of transfer. So please allow for sufficient processing time at the bank (3–5 working days). 

  • Your transfer will appear in the TUMonline account within approx. 5 working days. Please do not contact us before the payment has not been registered for at least one week.

  • Your enrollment will not take place until payment has been received. If you have missed the payment deadline, please pay the fee without further delay.

  • For payments from outside the SEPA area, please check with your bank if bank charges apply. Please indicate that all bank charges are to be paid by the remitter, including charges from intermediary institutions.  To do this, please inform your bank to select “OUR” for the details of charges.

  • Extra fees are charged for some continuing education programs. For more information please visit the pages of the respective school.

  • For degree programs with restricted admission (NC) other deadlines apply. Here, the semester fee has to be received by TUM within 14 days after you receive the admission letter.

Please check after five business days to see if your payment has been received in your dues account. If after five business days your transfer is not or not fully reflected in your TUMonline account, please send us a copy of remittance voucher from your bank to beitragsmanagementspam prevention@zv.tum.de.

Cash Payments at the TUM Bursar’s Office

The semester fee can be paid in cash at the Bursar’s Office at the Munich campus.
