TUM Friedrich Schiedel Fellowship for Technology in Society founded

In order to increase societal acceptance of technical and physical scientific developments, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is focusing on a close intermeshing with social sciences. Accordingly, the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology (SOT) was established in 2021. Now the new TUM Friedrich Schiedel Fellowship for Social Sciences and Technology is to take interdisciplinary collaboration of the social sciences with natural, engineering and life sciences as well as medicine to a new level at TUM.

The Fellowship is intended for young TUM scientists and offers financial support for scientific work which is supervised jointly by specialized experts from the social sciences and scientific-technical profile areas at TUM, e.g. in robotics, quantum technologies or digital medicine. For this purpose, the Friedrich Schiedel Foundation is providing up to 625,000 euros over a period of five years. TUM will match this amount with its own funding.
