International success story with a future

TUM extends flagship partnership with Imperial College London

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Imperial College London (ICL) have been working together very closely as flagship partners for five years. At a meeting in London, TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann and Imperial President Prof. Hugh Brady have now extended the strategic alliance for a further five years.

President Thomas F. Hofmann and President Hugh Brady signed the memorandum of understanding in London to extend the partnership between TUM and Imperial.

Both universities are among the best technical universities in the world. The broad, strategic partnership offers optimal conditions for joint projects and the exchange of experience across all areas of the universities. More than 60 jointly initiated research projects, the establishment of a Joint Academy for Doctoral Studies (JADS), and an increase in joint publications of more than 100 percent - these facts and figures are just a selection of the successes of the flagship partnership to date.

TUM and ICL intend to expand their cooperation further - particularly in the fields of medicine, health, and the environment. TUM President Hofmann explained at the signing ceremony in London: "As an association of leading universities, it is our duty to join forces and enable young talents at an international level to develop effective solutions for the complex global challenges of the 21st century."
