Bavarian State government appoints expert advisors
Prof. Protzer joins expert council on Corona crisis
“We were worried that the same dynamic seen in Italy would develop,” said Ulrike Protzer, adding that science always provides new findings in order to make the government's decisions easier. The council will be composed of experts from virology, epidemiology, hygiene, general medicine, microbiology, health services research and intensive care. Members will also include experts familiar with the situation at general practitioners' clinics and hospitals. Protzer said that a broadly diverse group is extremely important in properly assessing the current situation.
The Munich Covid-19 Cohort
In addition to appointing the expert council, the Bavarian government also announced a special research project: the Munich Covid-19 Cohort. In the project 3,000 households in Munich will be chosen at random. The participants are to give blood samples at regular intervals, and data will be collected using questionnaires. This is to make long-term statements on the illness and the dynamic of the virus possible.
