Again top university in the "German Startup Monitor"
TUM is Germany's founding hotspot
For the "German Startup Monitor", the University of Duisburg-Essen, on behalf of the Federal Association of German Startups, is interviewing companies younger than ten years of age. This year, the data from 1,550 start-ups, representing 3,763 founders and 17,647 employees, were included in the analysis.
It was also examined whether the founders had studied and, if so, at which university. TUM tops this ranking with a porportion of 3.7% and was able to increase the value from last year by half a percentage point. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and RWTH Aachen University rank second and third respectively.
From the idea to the product
Around 70 companies are founded at TUM every year. The transfer of technologies and processes into marketable products is the topic of many seminars and lectures at TUM. Additional courses, such as those offered at the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM), are explicitly aimed at the foundation of a company. Those who decide to found a company during or after their studies receive comprehensive support in the TUM Entrepreneurship Center during the entire start-up phase. TUM and its affiliate UnternehmerTUM Institute are housed together on the Garching campus to provide a one-stop-shop for these services.
