Canteens as Study Areas
TUM students also find space to study and work in the canteens in Munich and Garching.
What you need to know
Thanks to an initiative of TUM's Student Representation, new study areas are available to TUM students:
Additional study areas will be created in the canteens at Campus Munich (Arcisstraße 17) and Campus Garching (Boltzmannstraße 19).
In Munich, 600 additional places are available to students, while in Garching there are approximately 1,500.
The study areas are open from Monday to Friday, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.
In the canteen at the Munich campus, Arcisstraße 17, there are 600 places on the upper floor.
The study area is designated on site, at the bottom of this website you will also find site plans for orientation.
In the canteen at the Garching campus, Boltzmannstraße 19, there are about 1,500 places on the upper floor.
The study area is designated on site, at the bottom of this page you will also find further site plans for orientation.
Study areas in the canteens will be open Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Meal service ends at 2:00 p.m. The study areas will open directly after that; students will therefore be able to use the spaces as study areas seamlessly after their meal.
Wi-Fi via eduroam is available free of charge for students in all TUM canteens.
Power sockets are available at some workstations, but not across the whole area. We therefore recommend that you use the study areas in the canteens with charged batteries or bring your own powerbank or similar. It is not permitted to install your own extension cords or multiple sockets.
In the newly created study areas in the canteen in Munich as well as in the caneen in Garching, supervisory staff of a security service is on site.
