121 sponsors support 906 students at TUM

Outstanding commitment to the Deutschlandstipendium

President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann has appealed for donations for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship at TUM: "There are only a few moments in life when we have the opportunity to shape our present and future. The Deutschlandstipendium, which provides financial support to particularly talented and committed students, is such an opportunity." This winter semester, 906 students are benefiting from it. The money comes from 121 sponsors and is doubled by the federal government.

TUM's goal this year is to collect 10,000 euros within six weeks from friends of the Deutschlandstipendium, including former scholarship holders. Five major donors - the association "Die Freunde der TUM", the Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung and the Anneliese Pfannenberg-Stiftung as well as the TUM Honorary Senators Dr. Farhad Farassat and Prithwis Basu - have already agreed to add another 10,000 euros each. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research will then double the total amount once again. President Hofmann called on people to participate in this matching challenge with donations.

The scholarship amounts to 300 euros per month. The sponsors are far-sighted foundations, associations, companies, and generous private individuals. They not only support the students financially but also act as mentors and support them with their life, career, and world experience. The program started in 2011 with just under 70 scholarships and has grown rapidly. Since then, around 8,800 scholarships have been awarded at TUM alone.
