To mark the 100th birthday of Fritz Koenig, one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, the Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste (Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts) is hosting an anniversary celebration. The event will pay tribute to Fritz Koenig's great contribution to German sculpture and his role as a teacher and architect. It offers a comprehensive look at his life's work and his influences on art and architecture.
At the age of 40, the sculptor was appointed to the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Koenig was a member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin and the Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste as well as a recipient of the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art and the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The event is free, registration is not required.

Peter Brückner, Florian Nagler and Stefanje Weinmayr talk about three topics together with Dieter Wieland, who accompanied Fritz Koenig over decades of his life:
- Fritz Koenig. A genesis of works: Stefanje Weinmayr presents the leitmotifs of Koenig's oeuvre in his major works.
- Fritz Koenig as a teacher. Seeing. Feeling. Shape: Peter Brückner, who studied under Fritz Koenig at TUM, talks about Koenig as a formative teacher of seeing in the interplay of architecture and sculptural design.
- An architect's thoughts on the Ganslberg: Florian Nagler shares his impressions of the Ganslberg, the place where Fritz Koenig lived and worked. Together with Andreas Meck and students from TUM and Munich University of Applied Sciences, he developed architectural ideas for the future of the Ganslberg.
