New European partner university
TUM and Aalto join forces
Aalto University, which is named after the famous Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto (1898 - 1976), emerged in 2010 from the fusion of the Helsinki University of Technology, the University of Art and Design Helsinki and the Helsinki School of Economics. Privately incorporated and supported by the Finnish government, it has since gained an excellent reputation with a successful modernization course.
The Presidents Wolfgang A. Herrmann (TUM) and Ilkka Niemelä (Aalto) stated to concentrate the bilateral cooperation particularly on entrepreneurial activities, for which both universities already enjoy an outstanding reputation in Europe.
