Renewed increase in internationalization at TUM
A new record semester begins
This year TUM is welcoming approximately 7,300 first-semester students in the basic curricula (primarily Bachelor's programs), another new record. Around 4,700 students are beginning Master's degree programs, a figure comparable to the previous year values. TUM has thus reached a new high with an enrollment of 41,500 students.
As in the previous year, almost half of the students in Master's degree programs are from countries other than Germany. 45 of these programs are presented in English. The share of foreign students among first-semester students in the mainly German-language Bachelor's degree programs has risen to almost one fourth.
The fact that TUM prepares its students ideally for the professional world is attested to for example by the "Global University Employability Ranking", which surveys 6,000 companies in 20 countries as to the quality of university graduates. The study ranks TUM in eight place worldwide.
TUM Campus Heilbronn opens
The sixth TUM site is celebrating its premiere: Although the contract covering the long-term financing of the new TUM Campus Heilbronn by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation was not signed until spring, the "pioneer class" of around 40 students is already beginning its management studies in Heilbronn.
In Munich the TUM Board of Management will welcome all first-semester students at the Freshman Reception on Monday, October 15 at 5:00 pm in the interior courtyard of the main building, Arcisstraße 21. The celebration will feature free beer from the state-owned Weihenstephan brewery.
