Transporting loads into space by rocket is nothing new, but have you ever heard of a space elevator? With the help of a geostationary space station and a cable, it should be possible in future to transport goods into space in an environmentally friendly way. However, a great deal of research work is still required for a realistic application.

The WARR (Scientific Working Group for Rocketry and Spaceflight) student group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), among others, is dedicated to this research. On April 4, 2024, the students invite you to the European Space Elevator Challenge at the Garching Research Center. With the help of a large crane, a rope will be stretched to Earth, where teams from Munich, Dresden and Japan will compete against each other with their space elevators.

Admission is free.
