Million-euro support for the TUM Entrepreneurship ecosystem
Brainlab AG becoming a Platinum Partner of TUM Venture Labs
The TUM Venture Lab Healthcare focuses on innovations in the development of active ingredients, digital health and medical technologies. Its scope also includes technologies for the integration and better use of medicinal data by the implementation of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning.
"Highly promising partnership"
Brainlab founder and CEO Stefan Vilsmeier comments on the partnership: "As a Munich-based company, Brainlab has already been in close collaboration with TUM, one of Europe's leading universities, for many years now. We are united by the shared objective of moving innovations in the field of medical technology forward. This means we are very pleased about the partnership and collaboration with TUM Venture Lab Healthcare. It is of utmost importance to us to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem, and as a former TUM student and company founder it's especially important to me to promote start-ups in this area."
TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann says: "Stefan Vilsmeier has given us a perfect example of how to lead a company from scratch to the international vanguard of medical technology. Together with his company, he will be a first-class mentor and a reliable partner for our start-ups. This intellectual and financial support is a powerful boost to the TUM Venture Lab Healthcare."
Brainlab and TUM Venture Labs
Brainlab will contribute its expertise in medical technologies and international implementation of medical innovations and expects intensive specialized exchange between the founder teams and the management of TUM Venture Labs. This fall, together with the Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Brainlab was nominated for the 2022 German President's Award for Innovation in Science and Technology. The Munich-based company specializes in digital medical technologies and the intelligent use of imaging data.
Individual support for founders by the TUM Venture Labs program includes education programs and incubator programs in all phases of the process, from putting together a team and development of a business model to support in financing. In order to ensure that not only single start-ups, but rather entire start-up families are founded, the TUM ecosystem and UnternehmerTUM ensure a connection to international cutting-edge research, an extensive understanding of the specific market in question and networking with highly distinguished partners. At present there are a total of eleven TUM Venture Labs for a variety of topic areas.
