November 20th: Event on international mobility in science at MCTS

Global careers or international precarious work?

Internationalization is an important topic not only at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). It shapes academic work and life at universities all around the globe. On Tuesday, November 20, TUM's Munich Center for Technology in Society (MCTS) will host a lecture and panel discussion on this topic.

The Munich Colloquium on Technology in Society is designed as a series of public lectures. These lectures will be held by outstanding scientists exploring key issues at the crossroads of science, technology, society and policy.

Guest speaker Sarah R. Davies, an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen's Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, will give a talk on “Making Sense of Mobility: Precarity and International Mobility in the Natural Sciences”.

In addition, a panel of scientists working at TUM and other universities will discuss questions like: What does and should internalization look like in scientific careers today? What are the challenges and opportunities that arise in the context of growing international mobility?
