150 years of TUM:

The anniversary website has gone live

TUM is celebrating a very special birthday! What started off as a “Polytechnische Oberschule” in 1868 is now – 150 years later – to be seen as a player in the top league. Today, TUM is one of the best universities in Europe. The website
offers exciting stories, all the important dates of the year, and information on how you can congratulate.

Anniversary stories

A high-speed capsule, a live stream from the brain, news from outer space… our researchers’ inventions and discoveries are changing the world – and we would like to thank everyone who contributes curiosity and innovative spirit to make all of this possible. Here, you can find a small selection of the scientific achievements of our university. We will constantly extend this list.

Events

The exhibition “Zeitlupe – 150 Jahre TUM”, the ceremony in the Herkulessaal, the MaiTUM-Fest, the opening of GALILEO in Garching, the employee party, the Open Day at the three main sites… here, you will find an overview of the festive program for the anniversary year.

Congratulate

Write and send your own anniversary greetings: Which academic achievement, which person, or personal experience from your studies would you like to highlight?

Support

Anyone who would like to support the TUM’s “Universitätsstiftung” can do so online via the website. Every contribution helps to promote talents and to tackle big challenges. It helps to maneuver beyond the limits of state budgets, to ensure that TUM will be able to compete with other top universities in trying to attract the most promising researchers and students.
