For the third time in a row, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has topped the German table in the “QS World University Ranking”. Drawn up by British careers specialist QS, the ranking is based on surveys that explore the reputation of universities in academic and business circles, the number of citations per researcher, the student-teacher ratio and the proportion of international staff and students.

TUM is ranked 64 on the list published today, making it the best German university for three years in a row. In the QS ranking per discipline, released a short time ago, TUM placed 18th in natural sciences and 24th in engineering. Looking at subject-specific rankings, TUM is the top university in Germany for chemistry, architecture, informatics, electrical engineering, and civil engineering.

TUM also regularly scores very strongly in other international rankings. In the latest “Academic Ranking of World Universities” (Shanghai Ranking), for example, TUM was also named Germany’s number-one university. TUM is ranked number four in Reuters’ list of Europe’s most innovative universities and secured eighth place in the “Global University Employability Ranking”.
