June 17 and 18, 2016: "DeSal Challenge" at TUM
Wanted: The best seawater desalination plant
High school and university students were invited to submit a concept for a compact seawater desalination plant. Prerequisites: The system must run without fossil energy and also must be inexpensive and easy to use.
This time the competition is particularly international. Twelve teams from Germany, Iran, Poland, and Croatia were selected by the jury to build and present their prototypes. From 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 17 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, the prototypes will be on display in front of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS), Lichtenbergstraße 2a, 85748 Garching. The award ceremony takes place around 3:30 p.m. on June 18.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, there will be a tour of the exhibition, during which the technical details of the prototype facilities will be explained. The meeting point is the foyer of the TUM-IAS.
