Bertermann's painting "Convergence" was donated to TUM
Combining science and art
TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann expressed his gratitude for the artwork and emphasized: "Creativity and designing new things unite art and science. Both are united by unconventional thinking and courageous experimentation. And this work of art is suitable for initiating exactly that." The oil on canvas triptych hangs in the Amalie Baur Room in the TUM Central Building, which is dedicated to the first female chemist to gain a doctorate at the university (1918).
The Director of the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, Prof. Felix Mayer, emphasized that art and science belong together, as was already formulated in the founding motto of TUM "scientiis et artibus": "On them rests the hope of making this world a place worth living in."
