Tri-medial project “Hey Uni”:
A new documentary series on the beginning of university life
For ARD alpha, documentary filmmaker Alexander Riedel accompanied five students with his camera over a course of one year. Are they really grown up yet? And how free are they? The bottom line is that – even in times of the so-called Bologna process, which aims to unify study courses and degrees throughout Europe – plunging into campus life is an existential (educational) adventure.
Elena Gernhardt is a student of Geosciences at TUM and the LMU. She has to manage her studies alongside being a mother. Veronica Kiriak is trying to manage a part-time job as a model alongside her studies of Medicine at TUM, which she does not always manage without emotional outbursts.
The series can be watched online (hey-uni.de) from October 28 onwards, and it will be broadcasted on ARD alpha starting from October 29.
To accompany the series on ARD alpha, the production company Pelle Film and PULSE, the BR’s program for young people, started a joint tri-medial project focusing on the adventure of starting a course of studies. All the episodes will be made public “web first” on the blog “hey-uni.de”.
The university-related stories are continued on the internet: Should one rather stay at “Hotel Mama” or move into a shared flat? Are university-acquaintances friends for life? When is the right time for children? And what to do after completing a course of studies? Via facebook, these issues can be discussed with the students who are featured in the series.
