Open Day Campus Garching October 3

Discover and try things out: We invite you to experience research up close for a whole day.

Come to the Garching research campus and experience science in lectures, hands-on activities, guided tours and much more. Whether young or old, there are numerous activities for every one on this day: students, staff and external guests. In addition to TUM, many other research institutions such as the Max Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes will be taking part in the day of action.

Open Day with the Mouse 2024

We are also taking part in the nationwide "Doors open with the Mouse" campaign day: some of our open day programmes take place as part of the Mouse Door Opener Day. But don't worry if these dates are already fully booked: There's a lot more to discover for young researchers on the Garching campus on October 3 – no registration required.

Who is this city, and what? Academic, cultural and educational institutions join up for the festival „What is the City NOW“ to find new perspectives on life in Munich. Together with the people of Munich, we want to hear unheard stories about the city, create new spaces and celebrate the way we live in Munich - for a city that is open to everyone.

The festival is a joint event of the TUM Center for Culture and Arts with the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Lenbachhaus, the Munich University of Applied Sciences, and LMU Munich. It connects artists and researchers alike across disciplines, from architecture to games engineering.

Immersive performance by Amon Ritz | Premiere

The Art of Becoming a Cyborg

25/26 June – Pavillon 333

Even in the city, new technologies determine our everyday lives. The TUM Center for Culture and Art presents a special experience at the interface of art and technology: In this performance by media artist Amon Ritz, the audience becomes part of the theatrical and electronic production process in the light of headlamps. Participants build headlamps around the question "How are the electronic gadgets made that we use every day and that shape our lives? Wearing the headlamps, they become cyborgs themselves, blurring the line between human and machine, organism and artefact.

Cinema on wheels

Ciné Vélo Cité

The mobile cinema on a bicycle and film lab by filmmaker Patrik Thomas is part of "PEARL" and is travelling through the city, stopping at all festival hotspots and showing films that were created with the communities in their exploration of their city. On 25 June, the CVC will stop at Pavilion 333 and show short films about the city. Free admission. No registration necessary.

Mobile kiosk

K67: Habibi Trafika

We've found a real kiosk icon: A K67 kiosk - a relic from socialist Yugoslavia that was a fixture of urban cityscapes for decades. The Trafika becomes a meeting point and stage at all festival locations and connects the program items with each other. Together with local protagonists and partner organisations, we invite you to get together for talks, readings, music and more. Pavilion 333, admission free.
