FAQ on the “Deutschlandticket” (“Germany Ticket”)
The Deutschlandticket will be introduced on May 1, 2023. Purchase is expected to be possible from the beginning of April 2023.
As of winter semester 2023/24, a special Deutschlandticket for students, reduced to 29 euros per month, will be introduced in Bavaria. Advance orders can be placed with MVG from August 10, 2023. The ticket will be valid from October 1, 2023.
If you have subscribed to the regular Deutschlandticket and wish to purchase the reduced-price Deutschlandticket on October 1, you must cancel your current subscription by September 10, 2023. There will be no automatic conversion.
The Deutschlandticket costs 49 euros per month and is only available by subscription, although it can be canceled monthly.
Starting in the winter semester of 2023/24, a reduced-price Deutschlandticket will be available to students in Bavaria for 29 euros per month.
For students under the age of 27 who live in Baden-Württemberg, there will be a discounted version of the Deutschlandticket as a 365-euro annual ticket starting December 1. For more information, visit the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport website.
The Deutschlandticket is valid for one calendar month. If the subscription is not cancelled by the 10th day of the month, it is automatically renewed for the following month.
You can buy the Deutschlandticket from Deutsche Bahn and the regional transport companies. You can find more information on the providers' websites.
No, since the Deutschlandticket allows the use of significantly more means of transportation at a lower price, it makes more sense to purchase the Deutschlandticket than the IsarCard Semester. The MVV semester ticket will thus be discontinued in the winter semester 2023/24.
During the 2023 summer semester, the validated Student Card will continue to be valid for travel as usual from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day on weekends from May 1, 2023 through the end of the semester.
Unfortunately, a subsidy for the Deutschlandticket as a job ticket cannot be granted by the State of Bavaria due to a lack of budgetary basis and financial feasibility. The purchase of the Deutschlandticket as a discounted job ticket is therefore not possible for employees of the State of Bavaria.
