Through this partnership, the institutions aim to enhance their collaboration and involvement of the FRM II research reactor in the fields of nuclear medicine, radiopharmacy, and medical isotope technology.

TUM, Lufthansa Group, and Munich Airport Plan Joint Research Initiative

New TUM Location at Munich Airport

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is establishing a new collaboration and innovation site at Munich Airport. Covering approximately 20,400 square meters within the LabCampus, the innovation hub at Munich Airport, the "TUM Convergence Center" will be created. The ceremonial handover of the keys to TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann and the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) took place in the presence of Bavaria’s Minister of Science, Markus Blume, Minister of Finance, Albert Füracker, and Dr. Florian Herrmann, Minister and Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery. The document was signed by TUM President Hofmann, Lufthansa Group Executive Vice President for Strategy & Organizational Development, Joerg Eberhart, and Munich Airport CEO, Jost Lammers.

Expansion of the management of the TUM Campus Heilbronn

Prof. Ali Sunyaev is a new Vice President of TUM

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has appointed a new Vice President to manage and further develop the TUM Campus, Heilbronn. Effective 1 October 2024, Prof. Ali Sunyaev has assumed the role of Vice President TUM Campus Heilbronn. He will lead the campus, which Prof. Helmut Krcmar has successfully built up since 2018 as Founding Dean and President's Representative, into the future.

Oktoberfest: TUM tests autonomous mobility in Oktoberfest traffic

AI-operated "MCube Wiesn Shuttle" in test operation

The world's biggest folk festival as an ultimate test for artificial intelligence: for the first time, an autonomous vehicle is tackling the particularly heavy traffic around the Munich Oktoberfest. Under the leadership of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Institute of Automotive Technology, the Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube) has developed the fully automated "Wiesn Shuttle". The team will test autonomous driving under extreme conditions in a two-day real-world trial on 25 and 26 September.

The federal government gives the green light for the second funding period

Major success for mobility research MCube

The Munich Cluster for the Future of Mobility in Metropolitan Regions (MCube) can continue its innovative research for at least another three years. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has deemed the first phase of the cluster led by the Technical University of Munich (TUM) a success. It will fund a second funding period with around 15 million euros. The BMBF announced this based on the recommendation of a high-ranking scientific jury.
