Towards new forms of cooperation

University symposium: Sustainability in science

  • Wednesday, 5/15/2024 - Thursday, 5/16/2024

Event location
Munich

Target audience
University and science management

It is obvious that scientific and technological progress in recent decades has brought many achievements as well as unintended consequences and that the current form of economic activity is not sustainable enough in many areas. The need for climate and environmental protection and the careful use of resources is a challenge for politics, business and society worldwide.

In view of the different goals of economic growth, prosperity, social peace and ecological sustainability, science has a decisive role to play as a driver of innovation. Science is called upon not only to drive forward research and innovation, but also to use its creative potential to provide the decisive impetus for economic and social transformation. The intelligent interlinking of all relevant players is a basic prerequisite for successful structural change.

This is where this year's university symposium "Sustainability in Science: The Need for New Forms of Cooperation" comes in, posing questions about clever strategies for a future worth living in that are underpinned by reliable data and thus providing new impetus for the urgently needed implementation of this transformation process in dialog with the various stakeholders.
