On his 100th birthday, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) remembers Prof. Friedrich L. Bauer, the first holder of the Chair of Computer Science. To honor him, a bust will be unveiled at a memorial service in front of the F.L. Bauer lecture hall in the main hall of the Mathematics/Computer Science building on the campus in Garching.

Prof. Friedrich L. Bauer (1924-2015) was a pioneer of computer science and internationally recognized as a scientist. He made a decisive contribution to establishing the study of computer science and laid the foundation for modern programming languages with his influence on the ALGOL 60 programming language.
